Job Title: Communications and Marketing Coordinator Reports to: Director of Communications FLSA Status: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY The Communications and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for facilitating communications, public relations and marketing projects associated with enhancing public understanding and appreciation for legal education and utilizing marketing platforms to communicate with law school faculty and deans about professional development and services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESWrite and gather social media content for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms, and track and report on analytics.Monitor media outlets for articles related to legal education and the legal profession and create weekly reports.Disseminate marketing emails and set up automated campaigns for AALS meetings and track and report on analytics.Make ongoing updates and edits to content on the AALS website.Work with member law schools to share and develop content for publications, social media and the AALS website.Assist the communications department with activities related to the association's annual meeting, including media relations, photography, and multimedia production.Create and maintain databases related to law school communication platforms and personnel.Assist with writing and administrative duties including reports, articles, website content, blog posts, press releases, media lists, event planning and other logistics. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS REQUIREDBachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, English or relevant field or equivalent experience.1+ years' experience in communications or public relations, preferably at non-profit organization or higher education institution. (Internships will count as experience)Experience with WordPress, HTML and the Adobe Creative Suite a plus.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.Familiarity with AP Style or other writing style guides.Experience with marketing and social media tools such as Google Alerts, Hootsuite, and Informz a plus.Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, and able to handle multiple projects at any given time; must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to work independently.Team-oriented attitude and ability to contribute to communications decisions.Some travel required for the AALS Annual Meeting and other events.
