Traveling on Sweet Georgia Avenue

One of the primary student projects that will be featured in the Visual Communications News Lab's The Word is titled “Sweet Georgia Avenue.” Students will extensively report on Washington, D.C.’s Georgia Avenue. The purpose of the project is to document the life and culture of Black people, as well as other people who live, work, and walk on Georgia Avenue.

Another important goal of the project “Sweet Georgia Avenue” is to provide live reporting content (audio, photographic, and video) for HU- School of Communication’s DC Gentrification Project. In recent years, Washington and Georgia Avenue has changed because of urban gentrification. Students will also provide reporting on the changing face of Georgia Avenue, and the influx of non-traditional residents.
